Five OCPS Schools Are Fully Equipped With Class Sets Of Essential Supplies And Surprises
[Orlando, FL] May 11, 2021 – Due to the growing needs to support summer learning like never before, A Gift for Teaching has fully equipped five Orange County public schools with supply kits for their summer school teachers, plus additional surprises for all the school teachers as a token of appreciation for their endless dedication this difficult school year.
More than 37,000 local students are enrolled in OCPS summer school this year – nearly double from previous years. Because of this, more than 1,500 teachers have selflessly committed themselves to continue teaching without a much-needed break. Supply kits to prepare these teachers and students for a successful summer have been distributed to Eagle’s Nest Elementary, Lake Silver Elementary, Oakshire Elementary, Wolf Lake Middle, and Ocoee High. Each kit includes class sets of essentials such as pencils, erasers, reading books as well as incentive items and backpacks.
“We are grateful to A Gift for Teaching for their many years of unwavering support of our teachers and students,” says Barbara Jenkins, Superintendent of Orange County Public Schools. “These supplies will enhance student success during summer learning, which is critical after this challenging year.”
Teachers have always been caught in the middle – striving to provide the best education possible, with diminishing resources, for our community’s future leaders – but the pandemic has taken it to new levels. Add to that the thousands of families wondering how they will be able to afford to replenish the supplies their children will need to successfully continue learning.
To help provide more supplies for teachers to inspire their students to continue learning and to prepare their classrooms to continue teaching, all donations received through May 15, 2021 will be doubled,up to a matching funders’ challenge of $10,000.
