Pencil Boy Programs

Our Pencil Boy Programs are designed to reach teachers when they are unable to shop in-store at our Free Teacher Supply Store.

  • Pencil Boy Curbside – We understand teachers are busy. That is why eligible Orange County teachers may order custom supply kits online to be conveniently picked up curbside at our Free Teacher Supply Store.
  • Pencil Boy Express — The Mobile Free Store – This store on wheels travels across Orange County, visiting different schools throughout the academic year. It allows eligible teachers to conveniently shop and secure critical learning tools for their students and classrooms.

School SmARTS

Art supplies and curriculum are often the first things slashed in today’s tight school budgets. Launched in 2006, our School SmARTS program integrates art into low-income classrooms to enhance learning. The program has two primary components:

  • Aunt Winnies Art Corner – This is a section within A Gift for Teaching’s Free Teacher Supply Store that provides teachers with basic quality art supplies.
  • Professional Development – In collaboration with Orange County Public Schools’ Visual & Performing Arts and The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, packaged art lessons and curriculum that cover skills such as drawing, watercolor, collage, and printmaking are provided to K-12 art teachers through free curriculum workshops.

A Gift for Music

A Gift for Music was founded in 1999 with the purpose of using music as a vehicle for the under-resourced youth in Orlando to envision a better future for themselves. Over the past two decades, it has grown to become one of the most comprehensive tuition-free string education programs in Florida.

The A Gift for Music program mentors students on a musical journey from third grade through high school. Using a combination of after-school instruction, weekend orchestras, and summer programming, we help empower students to discover their creativity through music.
