A Gift for Teaching Celebrates 350,000th Teacher Shopper
Nearly 25 years ago, A Gift for Teaching opened its doors and welcomed 84 teachers to shop free educational supplies for their classroom and students. This year, A Gift for Teaching welcomed its 350,000th teacher shopper with magical fanfare at its Free Teacher Supply Store!
In addition to a shopping experience they’ll surely never forget, math teacher Mr. Torres, received a basket of extra classroom supplies from A Gift for Teaching as well as a special 50th anniversary celebration gift from the Walt Disney World Resort.
A Gift for Teaching proudly serves public schools in Orange and Osceola counties as the primary source for free supplies to teachers for students who need them most. Eligible educators have the opportunity to shop at a store, online, and through a mobile unit for free learning materials that are donated through the generosity of the community.
Celebrating this milestone in teacher shopping also marks a second major milestone in A Gift for Teaching’s mission: Distributing more than $150 million worth of educational resources that empower teachers to inspire future leaders.
Both feats would not be possible without the continued support of community impact partners and individual champions of education.
Through May 16th, every $1 received will be doubled, up to a matching funders’ challenge of $15,000, to provide twice the essential supplies towards a vision of every student in Central Florida having the tools and experiences to succeed.
