Orlando, FL – December 16, 2021 – A Gift For Teaching, Central Florida’s primary provider of free school supplies, proudly recognized three local students at their annual Grant a Wish celebration with a free shopping spree to help spread a little extra holiday cheer this year. Rosy (3rd Grade), Richard (8th Grade), and Rachel (11th Grade) were nominated by their teachers for their hard work and outstanding attitude, despite difficult circumstances and hardships.

“We are thrilled to be able to safely come together again for a special private recognition ceremony to honor these students and their families for their scholastic accomplishments,” said Jane Thompson, president of A Gift For Teaching.
“Today, with the help of our community partners and volunteers, a total of 13 shopping carts with more than $9,200 worth of supplies and gifts were filled to the brim to make this holiday season a little more joyful for these students.”
Typically stocked with essential school supplies and classroom materials, the Free Teacher Supply Store was transformed with additional goodies, just for these students. Together, the students raced throughout the store with only five minutes to fill as many shopping carts as possible with all the extra learning supplies and special gifts their hearts’ desire.
The fun didn’t stop there as these deserving children were then rewarded with additional fun surprises by generous impact partners: Universal Orlando Resort, Publix, and Chick-fil-A. Because of the community’s support, these families will not have to choose between a new pack of pencils or a special holiday gift.
As the second half of the school year approaches, thousands of hard-working students like Rosy, Richard, and Rachel need to replenish their school supplies to continue learning. Through A Gift For Teaching, every dollar received by midnight, December 31, 2021 is eligible to be doubled, up to $50,000, to provide double the essential supplies to teachers for their students who need the most.
Consider giving a special donation at www.AGiftForTeaching.org/double today to replenish twice the supplies to help students feel confident and prepared to finish the school year with success. Generous matching funders include The Joe & Sarah Galloway Foundation, Henri Landwirth Family Fund, Mary Palmer Family Foundation, Kay Hardesty Logan Foundation, and Valencia College.
