Art sparks curiosity, builds confidence, and brings learning to life.
That’s why A Gift for Teaching proudly celebrated World Art Day this year with a week dedicated to hands‑on creativity at the Free Teacher Supply Store and Pencil Boy Express – The Mobile Free Store.

This year’s celebration highlighted just how powerful creative learning can be when educators have access to the right tools. Thanks to the incredible support of volunteers, 350 class art project kits were hand packed for this special occasion with enough free supplies to inspire 8,750 student projects across Central Florida!
Shopping teachers were invited to explore three different cross‑curricular art project kits, each displayed in multiple stages so educators could preview how the lesson unfolds, try the techniques, and choose the best fit for their classroom. Designed to spark curiosity and deepen learning across grade levels and subject areas, the projects empowered teachers to bring art‑integrated instruction to life. Once selected, kits were received immediately, with additional shopping time encouraged so teachers could enhance even more lessons with free supplies.
The featured projects included:
- Masking Tape Masterpieces – A grades K–12 lesson exploring value, contrast, and texture through layered masking tape inspired by Louis Comfort Tiffany’s glasswork.
- The Paper Square Challenge – A creative challenge using simple paper‑altering techniques to build texture, pattern, and collaboration without drawing materials.
- Accidental Art: Intentional Creativity – A reflective lesson encouraging students to explore intentionality in art by transforming accidental marks into purposeful designs.

Help Keep Creativity Growing!
A Gift for Teaching's celebration of World Art Day 2026 was made possible thanks to the generous support of The Elizabeth Morse Genius Foundation, The Winifred Johnson Clive Foundation and The John R. & Ruth W. Gurtler Foundation. Their commitment helps ensure meaningful arts education reaches classrooms across our community.
While World Art Day celebrates creativity in the moment, students need ongoing resources to keep imagination alive all year long. Classroom Heroes, our monthly donors, provide steady resources that keep teachers equipped and students inspired.
For less than a dollar a day, $25 a month, you can provide three classrooms each year with the supplies they need to learn, create, and succeed. It takes one click to set up an auto-recurring donation, and you can pause at any time!
Help keep creativity growing in classrooms year-round and become a Classroom Hero today.
