The excitement of our Pencil Boy Programs re-launching for the new school year has been contagious, it even made our Vice President of Operations cheer and dance!

Every day, thousands of teachers in our community juggle new classroom demands, family responsibilities, and extra work after school hours. Finding time to shop at the Free Teacher Supply Store isn’t always easy.

Our solution? Pencil Boy Programs. Encompassing two innovative distribution methods through A Gift for Teaching, these free services are designed to ensure essential supplies continue to reach local classrooms even when teachers can’t make it to the physical store to shop.

In just the first month, Pencil Boy Express – The Mobile Free Store and Pencil Boy Curbside have already delivered a combined worth of $211,060+ in supplies to support more than 600 classrooms. Both services will run all school year from September 2025 through April 2026.

Pencil Boy Express — The Mobile Free Store is a pop-up store on wheels that brings classroom essentials directly to schools across Orange County, at no cost.

Kicking off its rotation in September at Apopka High School, Ocoee High School, and University High School, 232 eligible educators in the surrounding areas were able to conveniently shop as soon as the last bell rang. They carried away more than $72,730 worth critical learning tools for their students who needed them most.

Pencil Boy Curbside provides the ultimate shopping experience with free online orders available for pickup with a simple pop of a trunk.

In one month, generous volunteers fulfilled 370 custom supply kit orders for teachers, hand-packing more than $138,330 worth of educational resources. Because of its overwhelming popularity, the first five eligible schools to place 25 or more supply orders can also receive free direct delivery each month.

As the school year continues, Pencil Boy Express will keep rolling and Pencil Boy Curbside orders will keep growing – empowering educators and inspiring future leaders across the furthest corners of Orange County, one visit at a time.
