An employer matching gift is a type of corporate giving program in which companies financially match donations that their employees make to nonprofit organizations. When an employee makes a donation to an organization, they can also request a matching gift from their employer, who then makes their own donation to the organization.

Matching gifts are a great opportunity to double, even triple, your donations, boost virtual supply drives, and increase event fundraising efforts. Gifts from employees’ spouses and retirees may also qualify for a match.

For example: You work for ABC Company and make a $25.00 gift to A Gift For Teaching. ABC Company matches employee giving to charitable organizations at a 1:1 ratio. After you submit your matching gift form to ABC Company, informing them of your donation, ABC Company can also make a $25 gift to A Gift For Teaching – easily doubling the impact and value of your generous donation in minutes.

You can use the search tool above to see if your employer will match your gift and find everything you need to apply for a matching gift.
