Orlando, FL – December 19, 2019 – A Gift For Teaching (AGFT), Central Florida’s primary provider of free school supplies, recognized three local students at their annual Grant A Wish event with a 5-minute shopping spree in their Free Store. Dshea (1st Grade), Chalaya (8th Grade), and Kevin (11th Grade) were nominated by their teachers for their hard work and outstanding attitude, despite difficult circumstances and hardships.
Together, the students raced throughout the Free Store to fill as many shopping carts as possible with all the school supplies and gifts their heart’s desire. The fun didn’t stop there as these deserving children were then also rewarded with gift cards, gift baskets, and other fun surprises thanks to generous community supporters: Universal Orlando, Tupperware Brands, Publix, CiCi’s Pizza, Crayola Experience, Walmart, and Holiday Inn Club Vacations . Because of the community’s support, these families will not have to choose between a new pack of pencils or a special holiday gift this season.
More than 200,000 local students, with stories similar to Dshea, Chalaya, and Kevin, strive hard for their education and accomplishments in school every day. Thanks to generous matching funders The Joe & Sarah Galloway Foundation, Mary Palmer Family Foundation, The Martin Andersen-Gracia Andersen Foundation, Inc, and Kay Hardesty Logan Foundation all donations received by December 31st were DOUBLED, up to $52,500, to provide twice the essential supplies to teachers for their students in need.
