Allow us to introduce you to the recipients of our Jon Land Instrument Scholarship Award!

One of A Gift For Music’s biggest supporters, cheerleaders and advocates has been our friend Jon Land from Disney. He was instrumental in gaining Disney’s support for our program many years ago. He loved AGFM and was so proud of our students’ accomplishments.

Sadly, Jon recently lost his battle with cancer and The Fanny Landwirth Foundation created an endowment in Jon’s memory to award one Chamber and one Core student with an instrument of their very own. The Musician’s Challenge honors Jon’s dedication to our students, who have dedicated themselves to a shared passion – music and AGFM.

Chamber Orchestra: Open to students in grades 7-12 with at least 3 years' experience on their instrument.  Students wishing to join the Chamber Orchestra will need to meet the age requirement and pass a proficiency test to ensure they will be able to play with an advanced group.  Chamber Orchestra meets on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the A Gift For Teaching office.

Core Orchestra: Students in grades 5-6 interested in joining Core must have at least two years of violin experience (or viola/cello/bass).  They also have the opportunity to switch from violin to another stringed instrument (viola/cello/bass).  They will be required to pass a proficiency test to ensure they are ready for an orchestral setting.  Core Orchestra meets on Saturdays at the A Gift For Teaching office from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
